for Albany, New York: Here we will visit the New York State Museum. This
is a true gem and something to provide a lasting impression on all whom
visit. The museum also currently holds the 9/11 exhibit that will be part
of the new exhibit in New York City when completed. Lunch will be on our
own here at the museum. We will then travel on to Syracuse with a late afternoon
arrival. We will make the appropriate rest stops in route.
Our hotel for the three nights will be the Syracuse Double Tree Hotel.
This is a full service hotel with restaurant, cocktail lounge, indoor and
outdoor pools and all the other amenities you would expect to find at such
a beautiful property. The hotel is superbly maintained. Dinner this evening
will be included at the hotel.
Day Two:
Full, all you can eat breakfast buffet at the hotel.
Syracuse / Skaneateles / Erie Canal: Today will be spent in the area of
Syracuse with the following included:
1. The Salt Museum and the banks of Onondaga Lake. Syracuse is known as
the "Salt City" and this is a fascinating visit. In it's heyday
it produced nearly all of the salt for the country. We'll also learn about
the famous "Syracuse Salt Potatoes", a local specialty.
2. Erie Canal Museum: This award winning museum traces the wonderful history
of the Erie Canal and it's importance in American History and the history
of upstate New York. The Museum is on the National Historic Register and
contains the only remaining Weighlock Building (used to weigh the canal
barges). This is a must see! Lunch today is on our own.
3. Syracuse City Tour: Syracuse is a wonderful city with many sights. It
is home to Syracuse University and the Carrier Dome. This will be a riding
tour.
4. We will round out our day with a visit to the most famous village in
the Finger Lakes Region, Skaneateles (pronounced "skinny-at-lus").
This lovely quaint village features many shops and is nestled right on Skaneateles
Lake. A favorite stop for Bill and Hillary, this is a Picture Post Card
Location! We will have ample time to explore in the late afternoon before
we board our Mid Lakes Dinner Cruise on the Lake. We will return to the
hotel at approximately 9:30 PM.
Day Three
Our
Finger Lakes Day We begin with a full, all you can eat breakfast buffet
at the hotel.
1. We leave this morning for Auburn, NY to visit the William Seward Home.
This Federal / Tuscan style home is a National Historic Landmark. Built
in 1816, the home houses a wonderful collection furniture, and decorative
arts. Four generations of the Sewards lived here and they hosted such visitors
as Daniel Webster, General Ulysses S. Grant, George Custer, Presidents John
Quincy Adams, Martin Van Buren, William McKinley and Bill Clinton. Other
notables include Dorothea Dix and Harriet Tubman.
2. We will then continue west on Route 20 to Seneca Falls for a visit to
the Women's Rights National Historic Park operated by the National Park
Service. Our visit will include a brief introductory film.
3. Then we continue on to lunch at Abigail's, a family restaurant in Waterloo
that caters to Senior Travelers.
4. Next, we travel ten miles to Geneva to visit the Fox Run Vineyards overlooking
Seneca Lake. Our visit will include a short walking tour and a wine tasting
featuring the best of the Finger Lakes Region.
5. We'll drive through Geneva past Hobart College and on to Canandaigua,
NY and the lovely Sonnenberg Gardens. The property was purchased in 1863
and saw the construction of a 40 room mansion in 1886. We'll tour the stately
rooms including the Great Hall, the Billiard Room, the library and many
more. No tour here would be complete without ample time to enjoy the gardens.
The gardens contain nine (9) formal gardens with influences from around
the world. Simply spectacular.
6. We will return to the hotel at approximately 7:00 PM with Dinner included
at the hotel.
Day Four

Following our leisurely breakfast we will depart for home. We will make
