| Our Program Itinerary:
Day 1 – Montreal – We depart from home today and head from Montreal Canada. Montreal is the second largest city in Canada and the largest city in the province of Quebec. Originally called Ville-Marie, or “City of Mary”, the city takes its present name from Mont-Royal, the triple-peaked hill located in the heart of the city, whose name was also initially given to the island on which the city is located. We will have lunch on our own as we head north and upon arrival our Best of Times Tour Director will acclimate you with your hotel, the Marriott Chateau Champlain Located in the heart of downtown and just steps away from Old Montreal, and Montreal’s famous “Underground”. Enjoy time to explore a bit on your own before we head for our included dinner at Montreal’s oldest continuous restaurant DuVieux Port Restaurant.
Day 2 – Montreal – After our bountiful breakfast we will have a guided tour of Montreal and have time for lunch on our own in Jacques Cartier Square in Old Montreal. This evening try your luck at the Montreal Casino and enjoy your included dinner here.
Day 3 – Quebec - After our bountiful breakfast we head for Quebec City and the start of our cruise. Upon arrival in Quebec we will Experience the European charm of the first French settlement in North America. Our riding tour will take in sights such as the Latin Quarter, Plains of Abraham, Ramparts, world famous Château Frontenac, National Assembly, Basilica, City Hall, Place-Royale, Citadelle and a glimpse of modern Québec City are the perfect introduction to the city. We then travel back in time to rural Québec and enjoy the view as we ride along the 40 kilometers of Chemin du Roy to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, we will pass through the many traditional villages of rural Québec. Lunch is on our own enroute. In Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, you will be given time to visit the world famous Shrine. We will also stop at the Montmorency Falls (1 1/2 times higher than Niagara Falls) before we board our cruise ship in the later afternoon.
Day 5 – Corner Brook – This corner of the world has been visited by many, beginning with the Maritime Archaic Indians 3,500 years ago. Since that time Eskimos, Portuguese, Basques and Captain James Cook have frequented the area. Today, Corner Brook is a modern, city nestled among scenic hills near the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Day 6 – Sydney – The coal industry brought immigration from many parts of the world, giving Sydney a multicultural mix of over 50 ethnic backgrounds and a global flavor to its history. Located on Cape Breton Island, Sydney is also an ideal jumping-off point for scenic adventures.
Day 7 – Halifax – Admire the rugged coastline the surrounds Halifax, the world’s second-largest natural harbor. This beautifully preserved city is Nova Scotia’s capital and was founded in 1749. Take steps through history and climb to The Citadel to witness the Old Town Clock.
Day 8 – Saint John (Bay of Fundy) – Saint John’s history is evident in its weather-worn look, passing the tests of salt air, sea winds and a devastating fire that have all contributed to making Saint John the greatest little city in the east. Be sure to look for your ship in the port against the beauty of the Bay of Fundy from Fort Howe lookout.
Day 9 – Bar Harbor – This coastal attraction has retained much of its charm since its glory days of the 1900s, when America’s elite vacationed here in opulent summer cottages. Surrounding the rock-bound harbor is the world-famous Acadia National Park where the opulence of nature is on display.
Day 10 – Boston, MA – We return home with fond memories of our cruise together.
